Nachni porridge


  • 10- 12 almonds
  • 10-12 cashew nuts
  • Tender Leaves black peppercorns
  • Few raisins
  • Tender Leaves cardamom
  • Tender Leaves fennel seeds
  • Milk
  • Jaggery powder
  • Saffron
  • Rosewater
  • Melon seeds

Cooking procedure:

  1. Soak almonds, cashew nuts, 7-8 Tender Leaves black peppercorns, few raisins, 5-6 Tender Leaves cardamom, 1tsp Tender Leaves fennel seeds and 1tsp melon seeds in water overnight.
  2. Now grind it to a smooth paste.
  3. Now heat some 3-4 cups of milk, add few strands of crushed saffron and little rose water. After the milk has come to boil add the thandai paste and mix it well in the milk.
  4. Now add jaggery powder (you can add sugar also) and mix it well.
  5. Now switch off the flames and let the milk rest for 30 minutes and then sieve it well. Now refrigerate the milk before you serve it. Do not serve too cold for the kids. Happy Holi!!
